THE STORY
Shortly after the inception of the Imagine Peace Park initiative, a partnership was formed with the Living & Learning Center of Northville, a campus serving autistic and differently abled children and adults. The organization’s mission is centered on enhancing quality of life through therapeutic programming, social engagement, work-based learning, and community integration. Imagine continues to develop projects on the campus to foster new experiences and empower individuals.
THE DETAILS
As an extension of Living and Learning's mission, Imagine developed a 4-hole sensory putting green and garden on campus, designed as a supportive environment for recreation, skill development, and social interaction. The space encourages participation in golf-based activities while reinforcing key developmental goals, including communication, emotional regulation, motor coordination, and social engagement.
The landscape incorporates a range of sensory-focused elements and ADA-compliant materials to ensure accessibility and comfort for all users. Thoughtfully integrated planting, tactile features, and varied surface experiences work together to create an inclusive outdoor setting that supports both structured learning and free exploration.
